K&K Insurance Case Study

Summary

Is an Indiana-based insurance company that stands out for its motorsports coverage. It was started in Fort Wayne, Indiana in 1952 to manage and market a benevolent fund for injured race car drivers.
Proposing a modern platform would increase the trust customers have when contracting their security coverage services.

Renewing the website was an idea proposed by a client seeking support to improve the user flow, with the added goal of transforming it into a mobile application. K&K's services are well-known due to their long history in security coverage.
Over time, they’ve expanded their offerings to cover a wide range of insurance categories, from everyday activities to recreation, sports, and travel.
I conducted a research process on the K&K Insurance brand, gathering information to better understand the client's needs and the coverage process.

Problem definition

K&K has a website that has not been updated for many years in terms of both flow and UI design. Therefore, it is important to highlight the following issues:
  • Lack of consistency in the interface.
  • The hiring process is unclear.
  • Information is congested and difficult to read.
  • The redirection of some pages is confusing.
  • Customer satisfaction surveys are not managed.
  • No analysis of site visits is conducted.
  • It does not inspire trust or security.

What can be improved?

To enhance customer satisfaction and demonstrate that credibility is an integral part of delivering quality services, the following strategies are recommended:
  • Offer individual customer accounts.
  • Track and manage statistics.
  • Provide support for the contracted coverage.
  • Organize the presentation of information.
  • Listen to customer concerns.
  • Communicate the status of requests.
  • Implement customer satisfaction surveys.

How can it be achieved?

By implementing a modern, more analytical, efficient, and fast app, the company will be able to achieve the following:
  • A simple interface.
  • The ability for customers to create profiles.
  • Clear presentation of services.
  • Viewing the status of contracted coverage.
  • Offering effective client advice.
  • Notifying clients of contract approval or rejection.
  • Providing support after contract payment.
  • Connecting profiles.
  • Evaluating the service.

Why is it necessary?

Having an accessible insurance service is crucial because engaging in any physical activity involves risks. K&K Insurance has a long history as a reliable security coverage provider, with proven experience in protecting its customers' well-being. Therefore, renewing their business processes ensures the company stays relevant and continues to evolve successfully.

SKETCHING

This phase involved generating many ideas for the app’s layout, grid structure, tile usage, and element positioning. The process was subject to modifications based on both the evolving ideas and the user flow.

WIREFRAMES

After establishing the appropriate navigation flow, additional changes were made based on functionality conclusions. The final proposal aims to create an interface that feels functional and user-friendly, ensuring the user experience is both intuitive and efficient.

PROTOTYPE

The prototype was created considering the parameters mentioned above, ensuring a coherent flow in the main functions. It features a simple and efficient interface that clearly communicates K&K Insurance's security coverage details.
The UI design maintained a monochromatic palette with contrasting elements to balance the corporate red, adhering to the company's brand image.
